The BorgWarner CR170 turbo hybrid is based on the BV43b turbo factory installed in the 2.0 CR TDI engines. The CR170 hybrid is fitted with a 52mm compressor wheel for better performance. This unit can safely achieve up to 220-230bhp.
This BorgWarner CR170 52mm hybrid turbo will blow out of the water a CR170 turbo with the stock 49mm wheel.
This turbo is a 100% bolt-on unit and doesn’t require modifications to your intake. We recommend a tune and an upgraded MAP sensor for better performance. An aftermarket exhaust will pair nicely but is not needed. You can also keep the EGR with the Bolt-on CR170 52mm.
Fitment:Â Direct bolt-on fitment since the manifold and compressor housing are US specific. No modifications necessary to the intake and EGT probe. The installation is easier to do with a gasket kit. We also recommend fitting a new braided steel oil feed line. Old/broken oil feed lines are usually the reason for a turbo failure.

Really good turbo, bought it for my stage 2 MR sportwagen. I need to go stage 3 but the car feel good with the turbo. Small concern was the pyro sound spacer I haven’t seen when unpackaging the turbo, I build my own to get my car running and found it once the job done, my fault but this small part was hard to find in the box(small bag hidden in packaging). I now have 40000km out of the turbo and it feel like new. Great price for this update. Recommend it

Purchased this turbo when my stock CR140 finally gave up the ghost and started whining (230k km). Installation was a breeze (not much harder than the downpipe I already had). The turbo has now been in for 10k km and a year and has been running without a hitch. Don’t forget to budget for a tune and a 3 bar sensor (shout out to Malone Tuning). You can expect a MUCH more glorious top end, less traction (lol), lower EGTs, better turbo noises and very similar (if not better) fuel economy. DMF shudder is worse, but it’s just a reminder to downshift. Below ~3k rpm it feels about the same, but above it really wakes up! Cannot comment on how it compare to a non-hybrid CR170. Highly recommend this though! Great and easy upgrade!
