The Garrett GTD1456vz turbo hybrid is based on the GTD1449vz turbo factory installed in the European 2.0 CR TDI engines. The GTD1456vz hybrid is fitted with a 6+6 56mm billet compressor wheel for better performance. This unit can safely achieve up to 220-240bhp.
This is the 5th generation Garrett VNT system which is far superior than prior VNT configurations. The re-designed VNT system results in : Faster spool, lower manifold pressure at high RPMs, higher EGTs capacity, higher air-fuel ratio and higher peak torque at low engine speeds.
The Garrett GTD1456vz hybrid turbo will blow out of the water the stock BOSCH/Mahle turbocharger, the later being much smaller in size.
This turbo kit is 100% bolt-on physically, however a new tune is required after the installation. An aftermarket exhaust will pair nicely but is not needed.

Stock swap out… I’d say an easy swap of parts but you have a lot of work getting this installed.
I rocked my motor and removed my passenger axle to get enough access.
All in all – 8 hrs or so for pulling my old one and installing the new one on jack stands.
Was a lot of knuckle busting work but the short drive since completed was awesome. Just keeps pulling into higher rpm’s and didn’t even notice I was up to 80mph in a flash.
Can’t wait to give it some break in time and have some dry roads to really enjoy the get up and go.

Was a lot of work to install – just by design of the 2015 cvca Jetta engine. Took about 8 hrs, removal of dogbone mount, passenger drive shaft.
After the hard work installing it. I can say I love this car’s get up and go now.
Stage 3 – delete with tunezilla tune. This thing hauls serious butt all the way through the rpm range. Sport mode on the dsg seriously rips hard.
Fun upgrade and honestly worth the upgrade if you need a new turbo – if you don’t, sill a fun upgrade and can get some cash back off your own turbo.
